The McDonald’s Faro Blanco Invitational Tarpon Tournament is quickly approaching. Gary Meagher and Bob Traa, Tournament Directors, will assist you with celebrating this annual event.
On this website you will find some information on a very fun-filled fishing trip to Marathon, Florida. Since we have a limited number of spots available, it is to your benefit to respond quickly as availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis. So please get your deposits in quickly. We had 80 people on last year’s trip and are expecting even more this year, we should easily have about 95 attendees this year.
As we did last year, we will be donating any extra money over expenses from the tournament to the Ronald McDonald Summer Camp program. Last year, thanks to everyone’s participation, we donated $26,000.00 to the camp program. At last year’s Tournament we caught 86 Tarpon. This year we are out to break our all time record of 184 in 2010!
This years Tournament will be open to McDonald Owners/Operators, both past and present, McDonald’s Corporate personnel, and McDonald’s Suppliers and their guests.
The format for this year’s trip will be as follows:
- Arrival on Monday – April 20th, 2015 for the Welcome Party that will start at 6:30 PM.
- We will be fishing on Tuesday Evening April 21th
- We will be fishing from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM each evening.
- You can plan on departing on Saturday April 25th
Indigo Reef Resort will be our primary Resort again this year so the deal we have this year is you will pay for 5 nights and get 2 free nights. This year you can only use your one or two free days before the dates of the Tournament. You must be checked out by Saturday April 25, 2015. Or you can come in just for the normal 5 night stay and your cost will be the same and you unit will just remain empty for two nights.
This year we have a slightly different arrangement on booking the condo’s. All you have to do is list what you want on the Tournament Registration Form and do not have to make any deposit on the Condo with your registration. Once you notify me on your registration form I will let the people at Indigo Reef know what you want and they in turn Stacy Dodson from Key Caribbean, will contact you directly to get your credit card number and you can charge the full amount of your rental cost to that card. They will not charge your credit card until 3/20/15 or later.
Please let Bob Traa know how long you wish to stay (come early) so he can properly book your condo for you. Two years ago the group rented a large portion of available condo’s at Indigo Reef so we almost took over the entire complex at Indigo Reef. This year price for the condo’s is $ 1,900.00 per unit for up to 7 nights (includes all taxes, cleaning fees ect.) for the first 20 condo’s rented.
All units this year must be checked out by April 25, 2015. Last year everyone really had a great time because almost all of the people attending the Tournament stayed at Indigo Reef.

I think this tournament is a great example of the three-legged stool. Our success has been due to the participation of Owner/Operators (both present & past), Suppliers, and McDonald Corporate personnel and along with the many guests that have attended over the years.
